Our Approach to Safeguarding Your Home:

Maine Radon & Water Treatment prioritizes your family's well-being. Here's how we addressed the homeowner's concerns:

  1. Prompt Action: Our radon experts responded quickly with a detailed quote and scheduled a site visit.
  2. Thorough Inspection: Our team conducted a comprehensive inspection to identify all potential radon entry points.
  3. Custom-Designed Solution: Based on the inspection findings, they determined the optimal location for a radon mitigation system, the most effective approach for this situation.
  4. Expert Installation: Our certified radon installers efficiently installed a sub-slab depressurization (SSD) system. This method utilizes a suction pipe beneath the basement floor slab connected to a powerful radon fan outside the home. The fan continuously draws radon gas out of the soil and vents it safely outdoors. Additionally, they ensured the existing sump pump was properly sealed to further minimize radon infiltration.
  5. Post-Installation Verification: Our commitment to your health doesn't stop at installation. We conducted a follow-up radon test to confirm the system's effectiveness. The results were clear – the homeowner's radon level had significantly dropped to a safe 2.4 pCi/L.

Peace of Mind for a Healthy Home:

The homeowner's satisfaction reflects the success of our mitigation strategy. Knowing their family is now breathing safe, radon-free air provides invaluable peace of mind.

This job was a unique one. This house was right on the oceanfront and when high tide occurs the basement floods. This basement had current radon mitigation system with 2 extraction points however with the installation of several sump pumps and water guard drainage system it was allowing the radon gasses up through these areas. The water guard could not be sealed due to the amount of water that come in. So we chose installing an erv as the next best choice. This erv we added a damper on the stale air so we can create positive pressure which will reduce the radon levels in this home.

Why they needed a radon mitigation system: In Cape Elizabeth, Maine, a homeowner reached out with serious concerns after radon levels in their home were measured between 8 to 12 pCi/L. These elevated levels posed significant health risks, necessitating an effective radon mitigation solution to protect the family’s health and safety.

Why the customer chose the company: The homeowner selected Maine Radon for our expertise and solid reputation in handling radon issues. Our ability to offer a tailored solution and our track record of successfully reducing radon levels made us the preferred choice.

What's causing the problem: The high radon levels were primarily due to radon gas infiltrating the home from the ground beneath the foundation. This invisible and odorless gas accumulates to dangerous levels if not addressed, making effective mitigation essential.

How we fixed the problem: To address the issue, we utilized the existing stub-out at the front of the house, avoiding the need to drill through floor joists. We routed the PVC pipe around the exterior corner and installed the radon fan near the cable box for optimal performance. Despite the challenge of limited space for core drilling through cement on the left side of the house, we executed a practical solution with the necessary tools and equipment. Post-installation testing confirmed a significant reduction in radon levels to 1.3 pCi/L.

What's unique about this situation: The unique aspect of this job was the need to navigate limited space for installation while adhering to practical constraints. By strategically using existing structures and planning the installation to avoid additional drilling, we provided an effective radon mitigation solution that seamlessly integrated with the home's layout.
